After you sign the contract and pay the invoice, we ship you a GeoCV Scanner Kit with all the accessories in a carrying case. The smartphone is already included, and we do not support your own phone yet. You will need only a regular tripod extra. GeoCV Scanner App comes pre-installed on the smartphone and can be automatically updated.
Place your GeoCV Scanner on a tripod, turn it on, launch GeoCV Scanner App. Create a new Scene (project) just by typing in its name. Put a tripod with GeoCV Scanner at any place in the space, e.g. near the entrance. Press “Capture” button in GeoCV Scanner App. GeoCV Scanner will automatically make a 360° spin and capture a 3D scan - a 360° panorama with associated depth (geometrical data). It only takes 39 seconds. You see a top-down view of a 3D model (looks similar to floor plan), so you can understand what has been captured from this spot. One scan covers an area of up to 15 feet (5 meters) radius.
Move the tripod to another spot, usually up to 10 feet (3 meters) away from the previous one. Press “Capture” button again. A new 3D scan will be automatically captured from this spot. It will be automatically aligned to the previous one. You will see a merged 3D model. Repeat this process of moving a tripod to a new spot, pressing “Capture” button and reviewing the result, until the whole space is covered.
Understanding where to move the tripod next is easy. Preserve direct line of sight between consequent spots, so users can navigate between them in GeoCV Viewer. You might need to do some extra spots to avoid large unscanned areas, e.g. occluded by furniture. Leaving smaller holes is fine since they will be filled in automatically during processing in GeoCV Cloud.
If there are mirrors in the space they should be marked up with a simple line tool in GeoCV Scanner App during capturing. You can also markup windows and cut unnecessary parts of 3D model to make it look better.
It takes 25-45 minutes to capture 1,000 sqft. Thus capturing a regular 2,500 sqft home could take 1-2 hours. Capturing time depends on the layout (spacious layouts are faster to capture), whether the space is empty or furnished (empty spaces are faster to capture) and how densely you scan (denser scanning results in higher quality 3D scan but is optional).
When you finish capturing, press “Upload” button in GeoCV Scanner App, and the data will be compressed and sent to GeoCV Cloud for processing. Processing of 3D tour is done fully automatically. You will get an email notification when it is ready. Turnaround time depends on the number of spots, and is several hours on average. Floor plan extraction from 3D tour is done in semi-automated fashion and adds up to 24 hours on top of 3D tour turnaround time. 3D tour is available for editing and sharing first, then the floor plan is added to it.

GeoCV, Inc. was founded in 2014 by Anton Yakubenko and Gleb Krivovyaz, 3D computer vision veterans with 13 years of experience in the industry. GeoCV founders are PhDs in computer science, they have previously worked with companies like Samsung and Align Technology (Invisalign), their previous startup for creating photorealistic 3D models of buildings from photos has been acquired.
GeoCV mission is to allow everyone capture and share reality in 3D. 3D tours for real estate marketing is the beachhead opportunity we are focusing on. GeoCV solution doesn’t require photography, 3D design, architecture, floor plans drafting or any other special skills. If you can use a smartphone, you can use GeoCV solution.
GeoCV Scanner App provides real-time feedback, so you see a preliminary 3D scan (view from the top), so you can easily understand what areas have been captured during scanning. The app also provides feedback if 3D scans have not been aligned and suggests tips.
It is required to markup mirrors and windows during capturing. You can also optionally cut unnecessary areas of 3D model. Stitching and alignment of 3D scans and 360° panoramas is done automatically. No other routine manual steps are required.
It is required to markup mirrors during capturing, otherwise it confuses our algorithms for alignment of 3D scans and leaves unrealistic geometry in mirror reflections, which degrades the quality of 3D scan. It is also highly recommended to markup windows to make their geometry flat.
Interior spaces up to 20,000 sqft (approximately 2,000 sq meters) except wide open large empty areas and crowded spaces. GeoCV is not useful for capturing very large spaces like warehouses, shopping malls, airports; outdoor areas such as city blocks, construction sites; mm-cm accuracy demanding applications.
GeoCV solution is great for capturing interior spaces up to 10,000 - 20,000 sqft (approximately 1,000 - 2,000 sq meters) except wide open large empty areas. Here is an example of a 23,000 sqft (approximately 2,070 sq meters) mansion: https://geocv.com/premiumpoint
Capturing of large empty areas is limited in particular because of the limited range of depth camera, which is around 15 feet (5 meters). Such exceptional areas of reasonable size can be captured using QR codes placed on the floor, walls and columns around the area. QR codes could be then removed from 360° panoramas manually.

Capturing outdoor is mainly a limitation of the infrared depth camera we are currently using.
You can shoot aerial imagery using a regular drone following our guidelines. We then process them into an exterior 3D scan and optionally 360° panoramas using photogrammetry, and integrate them into your GeoCV 3D Tour. Incorporation of exterior 3D scans and aerial 360° panoramas captured with a drone is our premium feature, which is not yet included into subscription and has project-base pricing.

You can add multiple floors in GeoCV Scanner App during capturing. During processing, the 3D scan is automatically segmented into multiple floors, so users can see all the floors altogether as well as each floor individually in GeoCV Viewer. Floor plans are extracted per each floor.
We capture multiple brackets covering a very wide dynamic range, and our software automatically fuses these images into a HDR image, so that both dark interior and bright exterior views are clearly visible without clipped blacked areas and washed out windows, with great level of detail in highlights and shadows.
You can capture in a wide range of lighting conditions from night views to brightest spaces because we capture multiple exposures and automatically stitch them into a single HDR (High Dynamic Range) image, which clearly shows both dark room interior and bright view behind the window. No special lighting or flash is required.
You can preview low-resolution 360° panoramas without post-processing during capturing. Final seamlessly stiched high-resolution HDR (High Dynamic Range) 360° panoramas with all color corrections applied are produced in GeoCV Cloud.
GeoCV Scanner App allows you to capture standalone 360° panoramas without 3D geometry. They are called Viewpoints. Viewpoints are not merged with the 3D model, but are shown as Highlights. Example: https://geocv.com/462littletimber
GeoCV solution allows you to capture existing spaces as is. We can then virtually stage this space, i.e. augment it with virtual furniture (example: https://geocv.com/staging). Our solution does not allow creating rendered 3D tours of spaces, which do not exist.
GeoCV 3D Tours are automatically processed in GeoCV Cloud. You don’t need to manually stitch or align 360° panoramas. Floor plans are extracted in semi-automated fashion by GeoCV partner.
We use our proprietary advanced software deployed to AWS (Amazon Web Services) cloud for processing. We partner with a leading company for floor plans extraction from GeoCV 3D Tours.

GeoCV customers own the copyrights for processed content. If you want to pass them to your client or provide your client a particular license you should be able to do so, please contact your attorney for that. Our pricing plans allow you to download content, edit it, self-host GeoCV Viewer, view GeoCV 3D Tours offline. GeoCV is granted a license to use data for internal purposes such as product improvements.
A floor plan for each floor with room labels and dimensions is extracted from a 3D scan, seamlessly overlaid on top of the 3D model in GeoCV Viewer, and is delivered as white labeled PNG and PDF files in black & white and textured versions.
We can’t guarantee any particular accuracy, but usually it is within 98% of the measured distance.
Floor plans are extracted from 3D scans, which are generated from millions of 3D measurements using our advanced software. But inaccuracies are still present. Depth cameras accuracy degrade with distance. When multiple scans are aligned, errors accumulate as the captured space grows. Thus we can’t guarantee any metrical accuracy, e.g. number of mm, cm or inches, and accuracy depends on the measured distance.
Usual 98% accuracy is good enough for room dimensions and square footage estimation in floor plans. It might not be good enough for architectural applications like estimating size of windows for precise installation.

Yes, you can download your 3D model in OBJ format. Download sample
You can import this 3D model in many 3D software including Unity, Autodesk 3ds Max, Sketchup, Blender. This is a high-polygonal mesh with textures, not a CAD/BIM file.
We do not provide such option yet in GeoCV Tour Editor, but you can use a third-party screen recording software for it. You can temporarily hide GeoCV Viewer controls and branding in GeoCV Tour Editor, record a screen video, and then set controls and branding back.
Processing is done automatically in GeoCV Cloud using our proprietary advanced software.
3D model and 360° panoramas are automatically stitched, aligned and enhanced in GeoCV Cloud using our proprietary software. At the same time, you have an option to download them for further editing and then reupload them back to be shown in GeoCV Viewer.

We partner with third-party virtual staging companies, who are in charge of actual virtual staging, while GeoCV supports visualization of both original and virtually staged versions of 3D tours in GeoCV Viewer. Just a single or a couple of panoramas per room are minimally required to be virtually staged, but it is also recommended to stage connecting panoramas if a large portion of rooms with virtual staging is visible in these panoramas.Virtual staging in a 3D model in addition to 360° panoramas requires more panoramas per room. GeoCV is open to collaboration with new virtual staging partners.

Yes, you can download any 360° panorama from a GeoCV 3D Tour in Facebook-ready format, so when you post it on Facebook it is automatically recognized as a 360° photo, which could be viewed around interactively, and automatically rotates when users scroll news feed or rotate their phone. It depends on the speed of user’s Internet connection, and is usually only a few seconds for initial loading when GeoCV 3D Tour becomes interactive. Further data is loaded on-demand depending on which 360° panoramas of the 3D tour user looks at.
GeoCV Viewer is optimized to provide as fast as possible loading speed even for slow connections. While the whole 3D tour data can weigh hundreds of MB, only a few MB are downloaded before interaction with GeoCV Viewer starts, and only a few dozens MB are downloaded when user walks through the space.
We use caching, so loading GeoCV 3D Tour second and further times in the same browser is usually faster than the first time. We use Amazon CloudFront CDN (Content Delivery Network), which optimizes loading time for different geographical locations.

You will need to purchase a tripod. Software-as-a-Service subscription includes everything you need, and only premium custom features such as drone 3D+360° content integration and virtual staging are charged extra with project-based pricing in the ballpark of several hundred USD per tour.
Yes, you can change or cancel your plan with a 15 days notice.
When you cancel your subscription your GeoCV 3D Tours and associated deliverables will be no longer available for viewing, editing, sharing, and download. You won’t be able to produce new 3D tours via GeoCV Scanner App. GeoCV can continue hosting your GeoCV 3D tours for you for $1 per tour per month.
Alternatively, before you can cancel the subscription you can setup self-hosting (here is how: http://bit.ly/geocv-self-hosting). Please make sure to download all your 3D Tours for self-hosting before your plan expires.
If you have been renting the camera, you need to ship it back to GeoCV in original case with all the accessories, in working condition subject to regular wear and tear, and get your deposit back.
Yes, GeoCV Scanner comes with 1-year limited warranty. If it malfunctions please reach out to us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will try to assess the problem and help in troubleshooting remotely. If repair or replacement is required, you can ship us the Kit and we will ship you back a permanent or temporary replacement. Repair or replacement for malfunctions identified as under warranty is free, you will have an option to pay for repair or replacement beyond warranty.
